Presidents’ Fest Doubles Donation To Florida’s Children First
Presidents’ Fest in the Park, a West Broward, family-oriented festival that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for a variety of Florida children’s charities, recently donated $10,000 to Florida’s Children First, a statewide child advocacy organization.
At a recent Children and Youth Cabinet event held at Nova Southeastern University, Lisa Zucker, daughter of Presidents’ Fest Founders Sue and Joel Fass, presented a check for $10,000 from the 2008 Presidents’ Fest proceeds to Florida’s Children First Executive Director Andrea Moore.
The donation represents a doubling of Presidents’ Fest’s commitment to Florida’s Children First.
Net proceeds from the 2008 Presidents Fest were $75,000, which represents an increase of over 60 percent from 2007’s total proceeds of $47,000. All funds are donated annually to charity.
Presidents’ Fest raised nearly $50,000 for various South Florida children’s organizations in 2007.
“This success was made possible by the hard work of our Board of Directors, our generous sponsors, and the tens of thousands of people who attended the event,“ Joel Fass explained.
Established in 1993, Presidents’ Fest In The Park has grown from a small community carnival held in the parking lot of the Weston Park of Commerce to one of West Broward’s most anticipated and publicized events.
“Part of the mission of Presidents’ Fest is to ensure that those children who can’t experience the normal joys childhood are able to join our festivities next year,” Fass said. “Our support of Florida’s Children First puts dollars into advocacy for the rights of disadvantaged children who might otherwise remain invisible within the system.”
Presidents’ Fest annual attendance is estimated by major media to be in excess of 40,000. The festival includes live shows, fireworks, rides, games and exhibits.
Event sponsors Rick Case Automotive, Colodny, Fass, Talenfeld, Karlinsky & Abate, Windmill Advertising, SunTrust, United Automobile Insurance Group, Think Weston!, Sun-Sentinel and Moss Construction, mirror Presidents’ Fest values through their overall support of various South Florida and statewide children’s charities.
